Maktym Kerim Kyzy / Internal Communications Specialist
Before inDrive I was a very shy person, a wallflower really. Now, I’m out here unmuting myself

I joined inDrive as part of the PnC team. Then — plot twist — Internal Comms got folded into the Comms department. New team. New people. New everything.
I was like: oh no. Social anxiety unlocked!

I believe companies hire both people and personalities. And what if I’m not their cup of tea? Will they like me? Will I like them? At first, our Internal Comms team was just two people. And I wondered whether I’d keep up. Now I know: I did.

Now I’m super grateful.
To both the PnC and Communication teams — who’ve grown into a seven-person dream team.

This transition taught me so much — about work, about people, about myself. Turns out I’m more adaptable than I thought. I learn fast, make mistakes, and fix them.
helpingI discovered I can do things that genuinely matter. And most importantly: I actually enjoy my work, I love my team, and I love my daily tasks.
helpingI like working at inDrive because I'm surrounded by people who casually turn out to be musicians, athletes, or exhibiting artists.

One time, during some intense prep for an event, a colleague said: “Of course you're here — there’s always something happening, and somehow you’re always in the middle of it.”
helpingBest compliment I’ve ever received! But before inDrive I was a very shy person, a wallflower really.

Now, I’m out here unmuting myself, speaking up, pitching ideas, suggesting improvements, and getting involved in the projects I care about because I know someone is listening.

I’m not always right — and that’s okay. It didn’t feel okay at first (cringey, to be honest), but I decided to treat it as
a learning experience. And more than being heard —
I feel seen.

In 2023, I wasn’t working at inDrive yet. I just saw a Twitter post about Yhyaq and thought it looked fun! There was an activity where you could leave your handprint to help create a collective picture.
helpingAt the time, I wondered where that picture would end up — and what a surprise! It was later presented to inDrive and now hangs at the Satpaev office in Almaty.

In my first year, I won the Inner Drive Award for Best Newcomer. Still in shock. I literally have a golden pin. Sometimes I stare at it like: “Did that happen? To me?”

When the hosts announced my name, I was on Zoom, eating pizza, 100% sure I wasn’t gonna win. I had to chew VERY fast, turn on my camera, and pretend I wasn’t internally screaming: “WHAAAT?!”
(The screenshot says otherwise.)
